PHANTOM 8
@
Did you know Shimano
7-speed top-mount thumb shifters have a "phantom shi ft"? This extra shift point can be exploited by using the
Pure Phantom-8 while allowing you to still keep your top-mount levers. The Pure
Phantom-8 accomplishes this while still maintaining your indexing, existing wheel
dish, and cog spacing. It takes less than five minutes to install and weighs less than 1
gram. Made in Canada Color: Silver
$16.00 each
BUTT BUDDY

of movement is all it takes to take the edge off those all day tours, off-road rides,
aluminum frames, or stoker blues. Easily attaches between any standard seat and seat post.
Never needs servicing or adjustment. If you need a longer seat post the Butt Buddy
adds 5cm (2") of height and weighs only 285g (10 oz). Made in Japan

POWER SPRING
The Sidetrak Power Spring
improves the efficiency of Shimano rear derailleurs by 30%! Improves Gripshift as well as
Rapid fire systems by replacing the wimpy OE Shimano spring. Eliminate your last-cog
shifter blues. Works on Shimano STX-RC models and up including LX, XT and '95 XTR and
before. One size fits all. Made in UK
$7.00 each
Installation Instruction
Tools:
Pliers. Narrow flat-bladed screwdriver.
Removing
Derailleur:
Disconnecting the cable to remove the rear derailleur.
Removing the old spring:
1. Locate the end of old spring on the open-ended pin.
2. Put on protective eye wear.
3. Knock the end of the spring out of the open-ended pin, using a screw drive from the
opposite side of the derailleur body.
4. With pliers pull the old spring out of the picot pin.
Installation
Hook-end first
- Drop the Power Spring inside the derailleur body with the
hook end against the pivot pin.
- To keep the spring from flopping sideways, hold the spring
with your fingers through two openings of the derailleur body.
- Using the tip of a flat-bladed screw driver, guide the
hook end to go over the pivot pin.
- As you guide it move the derailleur body away from the
derailleur cage by 1/2" so that the hook end will go further inside the pivot pin
enclosure.
- The Power Spring does not go over the pivot pin enclosure.
- Hold the screw driver sideways. Then push the spring at
the shoulder so that the hook end will pop over the pin.
Closed-end next
- Insert a screw-driver between the two coil springs.
- Close the derailleur; the open-ended pin will come close
to the closed-end of the Power Spring.
- Note: the more open the derailleur, the more difficult it
is to hook the spring as it must be stretched further, moving away from the spring.
Pry the closed-end up by lifting the screw
driver for hooking.
