リオバンバのＳｔｒｅｅｔで
この街に何の為にやってきたかというと、ジョージの奥さんマリアンがこの土地にしかないというボタン をお土産に買ってきてくれとジョージに頼んだ為だ。
コンドルは飛んでゆく El Condor Pasar
レストランにやってきた流し
植民地時代の名残のあるアシエンダ（下の写真）に一泊。その昔、殖民地主義者たちが利用していた古い建造物。 上写真はレストランにやってきた流しのアンデス音楽を専門とする二人組。縦型パイプ笛は軽快なリズムを 奏でる。
スペイン植民地時代のリゾート
白壁に太陽が眩しかった
リゾートホテルはもともとスペインの征服者たちが利用したアシエンダであった。ヘヤからの眺望は素晴ら しかった。
写真にはないが、この街では犬ではなく豚を散歩させている人々の姿をみかけた。行き合ったカナダ人の 金髪大学生は、この街でボランティアーを一年間していると言っていた。バックパッカ-たちが自己資金 を出し合って孤児２０人の世話をしているのだ。
中南米の政治はどの国でも腐敗している
政治腐敗を批判するポスターが目立った
ジョージの奥さんへのお土産用のボタン探しをしたが、結果的には市内徒歩見学に終わった。その後入った レストランにアンデスの音楽家がやってきて、パイプ音楽を奏でてくれた。「El Condor Pasa=コンドルは 飛んでいく」、リクエストしないわけにはいかなかった。アンデスの高地で聴いたアンデスの曲、感動が 胸におしよせた。

Riobamba
It is a larger size city in Sierra Los Andes (The Andes mountain range), and is a base town to visit El Volcan Chimborazo (volcanic mountain of Chimborazo).
アンデスの高地にインターネット・カフェ
We stayed at a very nice hacienda where colonialists used to come visit on holidays some 400 years back. We only stayed there for one night. In the morning we left there I took some photos as you see here. It was beautiful. I shared a room with Carl as I had been doing. My share was only $15.00.
The day before, we walked around the town of Riobamba. In Spanish bamba means Ville and Rio is River, so Riobamba means Rivesville. However, we saw no rio there. Anyhow, we walked around el centro (downtown) of el ciudad (the city) looking for a certain kind of buttons for George to take home with for his wife Mary Ann. We walked and walked until dark but no buttons. This was how we checked out the city.
訪れた時はアンデス祭りの前だった
The highlight of the day was at a very nice restaurant where un gruppo (one group) de (of) musica (music) came and started playing some Andes music with their pipe instrument and a guitar. The music was beautiful, and I requested them to play the famous tune, "El condor pasa", which was originated from this area. If you don't remember this song,, the lyric written by Paul Simon goes like this " I'd rather be a sparrow than the snail,,,,yes, I were,,,if I really could,,,I surely would,,," When I was listening to this Andes music in the very place of the Andes, I was moved and almost had tears in my eyes.
