Bicycle Retailer(バイシクル・リーテラー) June 1, 1997 Tech Briefs Sidetrak Finds Niche for Brake Booster SEATTLE, WA-Sidetrak's Brake Power Booster increases brake cable pull. It works with all linear-pull and cantilever brakes and brake levers. "It's a very simple and lightweight solution to increasing brake performance," said Shoji Onozawa, Sidetrak's owner. Anyone needing to increase brake performance can benefit from the boosters, but tandem riders, in particular, are finding them beneficial. "Tandems really need the additional pull this booster provides. Some riders report that it impoves their braking so much they don't bother with a drum brake," Onozawa said. The device mounts anywhere along the brake line. Depending on where it is placed, it may require an additional braake cable to work, Onozawa said. The amount of travel between the lever and the handlebar normally determines the amount of brake lever leverage, but with the booster, leverage is increased independently of the lever. THe booster retails for $40 a pair. |
